Spring is Here! (Sort of)

The spring equinox arrives at 11:02 a.m. UTC (coordinated universal time) on Wednesday, March 20.

Even though the temperature feels nothing like it, Wednesday is the official first day of spring.

There are two equinoxes every year, one in March and one in September when the sun shines directly on the equator and the length of day and night is nearly equal, according to timeanddate.com.

While it's difficult to get in a spring state of mind with snow still on the ground, the first day of spring marks a new beginning.
