Study Determines Cheapest Day To Buy Gas

Find out when gasoline prices will probably shoot up.

After tracking four years of data on gas prices, GasBuddy.com has an answer on which day they are the cheapest.

Actually, it's four different days. It was Sunday in 2010, Monday in 2011, Friday in 2012 and Saturday in 2013.

So what's the best day to buy gas in 2014?

"It is difficult to determine, but history likely will play a big role," wrote Patrick DeHaan, GasBuddy.com senior petroleum analyst, in an email to Patch.

His best recommendation is to fill up your car on the weekends.

That, and watch prices on GasBuddy.com, of course.

"Right now gas prices are relatively stable, but this is the calm before the storm, so to speak," he wrote. "We’re expecting prices to rise considerably starting in late winter (March) thru May."

Great. That's just when the weather will break and we'll all want to climb out of hibernation and drive somewhere.
