Summer Dance Showcase Receives Standing Ovation

Dancers and their families fill Harrer Park Pavillion for the Park District summer dance recital.

After a summer of running two dance classes after camp, swimming and the beach, these boys and girls (and a few adults too) strutted their dance moves at the . This was the fifth summer dance showcase and largest to date.

Instructors Lori Andel, Lindsay Skarbek and assistant Megan Foley worked with the dancers, who range in age from 3 to adults, for the past three months. (A few of the little dancers caught a case of stage fright and were escorted back to their mom's and dad's open arms.)

The audience was treated to an evening of ballet, hip hop, modern jazz and more. Kelly Smith, facility and recreation manager, was the emcee for the evening and invited all the dancers to sign up for fall classes which start in only three weeks. This may be the beginning of the end of summer...
