Update: Deerfield Roads Now Clear

Update (10:40 a.m., Today) As of this morning, all roads have been cleared and traffic is back to normal in Deerfield, according to the .

Update (5:30 p.m., Friday) Most Deerfield High School athletic events remain on schedule tonight despite the continuing snowfall, according to coaches and websites around the Central Suburban League.

The boys’ basketball team will be playing Maine West at 7:30 p.m. in Des Plaines according to  while the swimming team is currently competing in a dual meet against Niles North in Skokie.

When Patch contacted  less than two hours ago, he said the Warriors were already weighing in for the Central Suburban League North Division meet at Maine East in Park Ridge.

At this time there was no indication on the Deerfield High School website the girls’ basketball game at 7:30 p.m. against Maine West in the Exhibition Gym.

(Earlier Friday) A winter storm warning went into effect in Deerfield at 9 a.m. today which could bring four to six inches of snow to the Village, according to Weather Channel.

 began preparation yesterday by putting liquid salt brine on local streets to help today’s snow melt more easily, according to a public works spokesperson. The spokesperson reiterated snow is more difficult to melt in colder weather.

“Salt doesn’t melt at a certain temperature but the snow should be lighter and easier to clear,” the spokesperson said. “People should always be very careful.”

The Village’s snow removal force is geared up and ready to go.

At this time, Deerfield Public Schools District 109 has no plans to close early, according to a spokesperson for the district.
