Your Week Ahead: May 13 to May 20 in Morton Grove

An unsettled start with shower chances Friday through early Monday, then improving weather conditions with a quiet period of weather expected from Monday afternoon through Friday, May 20.

Temperature Trends: Temperatures will average near to a little below normal
Precipitation Trends: Rain will average below normal
Severe Weather Potential: The risk of severe t-storms is very low during this time
Drought Potential: No drought is expected this spring and summer season
Flood Potential: The potential for flooding is very low

An unsettled start with a low pressure system expected to move very slowly over the Upper Midwest over the next few days, then eventually shift southeast toward the Ohio Valley region by early next week. As the upper-level low slowly moves east, high pressure will gradually build in from the west reaching the western Midwest on Sunday. There still may be some energy left over for a few showers early on Monday with several intervals of sun developing, especially during the afternoon.

A sprawling area of high pressure builds in early next week with a lovely period of weather setting up with a good deal of sunshine and comfortable temperatures.

If this system were to retrograde farther west, clouds and sprinkles will move closer to our region by the middle of the week.

However, I prefer the more optimistic scenario: Mother Nature is about to give us a well-deserved break next week, and we all definitely earned it.
