Whiz Kid: Tyler Kapustka

Each week, "Whiz Kid" highlights a local kid who's done something worthy of a shoutout.  

Tyler Kapustka

○    Whiz Kid's Age: 18

○      Whiz Kid's School: Northridge Prep, Niles.  

○      Whiz Kid's Accomplishment: Tyler has achieved Eagle Scout status in the Boy Scouts of America, is captain of the soccer team at his school and loves doing photography and design for the yearbook.

○      Whiz Kid's Key to Awesomeness:  For his Eagle Scout project, Tyler organized a casino afternoon for residents at a senior living facility. He set up card games, had his friends man the tables and provided refreshments so that the seniors could have a day of fun and recreation.

In terms of sports, Tyler works as a lifeguard and swim instructor for the Arlington Heights Park District in addition to playing varsity soccer.

Tyler has a creative side, too, and has worked stage crew for his school's theater productions. He also loves photography, particularly sports and action photography and art/abstract photography. He shoots for the yearbook, and also does design and layout.

He'll keep up those interests next year at Marquette University when he majors in communications and advertising.
