Wonder Where Morton Grove Got Its Name?

Morton Grove's namesake and former U.S. Vice President celebrated his birthday on May 16.

Monday marks the 91st anniversary of Levi Parsons Morton's birthday and death. You may question why Morton Grovers might care for this seemingly small detail in history, but a quick trip to Village Hall reveals plenty.

At the age of 96, the once U.S. Vice President left a legacy with the name of our town, Morton Grove. He was born on May 16, 1824 and died on May 16, 1920.

Morton served as the Vice President under the President Bejamin Harrison, and built his career around his banking and financing skills.
