Reception for Maine South Art Exhibition
Those who appreciate student art will have the ideal opportunity to enjoy lots of it as the Maine South High School Art Awards Exhibition will be hosted May 6 through June 5 at Brickton Art Center in Park Ridge. The opening reception is Thursday, May 12, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
This year, the art on display will represent the creative work of both Maine South and Park Ridge-Niles Elementary District 64 students. The work of nearly 80 Maine South students and about 20 “up and coming” artists from District 64’s Lincoln and Emerson Middle Schools will be featured in the show.
The Brickton Art Center generously offers its gallery space to Maine South High School for this annual exhibition. This show gives Maine South art students an opportunity to have their work framed and displayed in a professional gallery setting. Maine South Art teacher Felicia Lahart said that the students represented in the show have persistently demonstrated a commitment to excellence through artistic expression.

The Maine South Art Faculty expresses its appreciation to Brickton Art Center, which, since 1997, has been serving Park Ridge and surrounding communities through creative outreach services in art education and art therapy. Brickton’s mission is to celebrate and nurture the creative power of both children and adults through diverse course offerings in visual and performing arts, as well as an exhibition space for students and professional artists.
