Prevent Gun Violence: Act Now!

A post regarding a grass roots group for gun control that is forming right now on the north shore.

Prevent Gun Violence: Act Now!

Monday was the one-month anniversary of the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, CT that took the lives of 26 innocent children and brave adults.
Our leaders still haven't announced a plan to address the epidemic of gun violence in America that claims 33 lives every day .

Demand a plan from the President and Congress to reduce gun violence in America:

A grass roots group is forming on the north shore of Chicago to prevent gun violence and promote mental health reform. I attended the first meeting this afternoon. There was a small but enthusiastic group. Several seasoned and knowledgeable veteran advocates on gun reform were in attendance. An action agenda was discussed, a connection was formed, a beginning was made. If you are fed up with the gun violence in our country, if you are a citizen, parent and /or a grandparent and feel as though you want to do something to change this deadly situation, but don't know where to begin, please consider joining us on this journey. There will be another meeting in the next several weeks. If you are interested in attending let me know and I will keep you posted. Also, please consider attending the following program, where you can learn more about working against gun violence: “Guns and Public Safety: Where We Stand After Sandy Hook” Sunday, January 20, 2013 2:00 pmWilmette Public Library, 1242 Wilmette Avenue, Wilmette, IL
