Prevent Gun Violence: Act Now!

A post regarding a grass roots group for gun control that is forming right now on the north shore.

Prevent Gun Violence: Act Now!

Monday was the one-month anniversary of the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, CT that took the lives of 26 innocent children and brave adults.
Our leaders still haven't announced a plan to address the epidemic of gun violence in America that claims 33 lives every day .

Demand a plan from the President and Congress to reduce gun violence in America:

A grass roots group is forming on the north shore of Chicago to prevent gun violence and promote mental health reform. I attended the first meeting this afternoon. There was a small but enthusiastic group. Several seasoned and knowledgeable veteran advocates on gun reform were in attendance. An action agenda was discussed, a connection was formed, a beginning was made. If you are fed up with the gun violence in our country, if you are a citizen, parent and /or a grandparent and feel as though you want to do something to change this deadly situation, but don't know where to begin, please consider joining us on this journey. There will be another meeting in the next several weeks. If you are interested in attending let me know and I will keep you posted. Also, please consider attending the following program, where you can learn more about working against gun violence: “Guns and Public Safety: Where We Stand After Sandy Hook” Sunday, January 20, 2013 2:00 pmWilmette Public Library, 1242 Wilmette Avenue, Wilmette, IL

Presenters:  Mark Walsh, Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence

AS A LAW ABIDING GUN OWNER IT IS VITALLY IMPORTANT THAT YOU AND YOUR FRIENDS ATTEND THIS RALLY! As a patriotic firearm owner, you have a responsibly to defend your Constitutional right by challenging those who would tear down our Bill of Rights. If the anti-gun folks are left unchallenged, then they and their politician friends in Springfield will walk all over YOUR constitutional right to keep and bear arms. These are the people who don't care if you or your family members are raped, robbed and murdered by violent criminals. They only care about one thing - disarming you. This rally is NOT about doing anything useful to prevent violence. It is about banning firearms.

Well, the press conference is over and the laundry list of executive orders has been thrown against the wall. Some interesting stuff there, like the attorney general beinbg tasked to determine what additional groups are likely to commit gun violence, (perhaps Mr. Holder should start with himself and his gun-running cronies who provided weapons to Mexican drug cartels). Another E.O. deals with identifying the mentally ill. Disturbing -- who gets to determine "Disturbed" and resulting Rights limits? There seems very much to be a hidden agenda in all this. Notice the emphasis on: (1) ID'ing the mentally ill; (2) Restricting the Rights of the "mentally ill". and (3) Getting the mentally ill the "help they need." Remember, many people in the old USSR were imprisoned w/o even the kangaroo courts of Soviet Russian by saying the subject was "insane" or otherwise "mentally ill." Most of these people died in the "care" and in the "mental institutions" of the USSR. (continued next post)

(continued from the previous post) To this day, declaring a person mentally ill or otherwise mentally compromised is continuing to be a favorite excuse by the Chinese totalitarian government. And the present Administration is pushing hard to have almost all present or recently separated military personnel declared as suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). This would be ample "cause" to thus deny a persons Rights -- including their Right to a firearm. These definitions are driven by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) which is the "bible" of the American Psychiatric Association. It has a history of being highly "mailable" with social pressure. For example, "Homosexuality" was removed from the DSM as a result of political pressure from Homosexual activists in 1973. (ADHD/ADD is listed in the upcoming revision of the DSM as a mental illness.) I am VERY concerned about the way this is heading. Especially considering who gets to say what is a mental disorder and if/how it impacts a persons Rights. If you support the Bill of Rights, (these Executive Orders do not only attack the 2nd. amendment, but also the 1st; 4th and 5th.) plan to attend the ralley at the Wilmette Public Library on Sunday to voice your concern.
