10 Weeks To Morton Grove Farmers' Market

Written by Kristina Otte, the market manager of the Morton Grove Farmers' Market.

With warmer temperatures just around the corner (I promise), Morton Grove is proud to host its second season of the Morton Grove Farmers’ Market. Each week I’ll give an update on what’s happening at our busy, family-friendly Farmers’ Market here on Morton Grove Patch.

Our amazing Market Committee is currently planning festivals throughout the season and fundraisers leading up to the Market opener, gathering new vendors and welcoming back vendors from last year, coordinating sponsors and musicians and community groups…so much to do!

1.    Fundraiser at Crazy Jaws on Wednesday, April 6:  is located right across the street from the Market, and we’re honored that they’re hosting the first fundraiser of the year for us for the entire day! Come for lunch or come back for Happy Hour and/or dinner, mention the Market when paying your bill, and CJ’s will donate 10 percent of your bill to us. Thanks, CJ’s!

2.   Saturday, May 7: Mother’s Day weekend pre-season sale: Though the Market doesn’t fully start until Saturday, June 4, we decided to honor our moms, grandmas, yia-yias and abuelas with a little pre-season opener. Same location (8930 Waukegan Rd.), same time (new this year, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.), but a few extra vendors with gifts and gift baskets. Look for salsas, flowers, bedding plants, baked goods, jams, honeys, candles, cheeses, honey-nut snacks, internationally-made, fairly-traded gifts, notecards, and so much more. Local folk-singer Steve Justman will be on-hand too, troubadouring it up, keeping us tapping our toes to keep the chill off!

If you’re interested in volunteering a few hours of your time at the Market, please contact me. If you’re feeling generous and would like to help out with our fundraising, talk to me!
