American Midwest Hotel in Niles has closed its doors, the Niles Herald-Spectator reports.

In late February, the owners of the hotel walked away from the property and the village chained the doors closed, the newspaper reports. The owners had reportedly stopped paying utility bills before vacating the property and the village declared it “unfit for human habitation.” The building is now bank-owned.
