Computers with Patient Data Stolen From Advocate

Information from more than 4 million Advocate patients was on computers that were stolen from the medical group this summer.


Advocate Medical Group said four computers with personal information for more than 4 million patients were taken during a burglary last month, the Republic reports. The computers contained information from anyone who has visited Advocate Medical Group, which includes more than 1,000 doctors in 200 locations in the area, including in Niles. 

 The medical group said the computers were taken July 15 from their administrative offices in Park Ridge. The computers had patient names, addresses, dates of birth and social security numbers on them. However, the publication reports, they did not have medical records on them. The records are from anyone who has visited an Advocate Medical Group doctor. Impacted patients can receive from credit monitoring from Advocate.
