Guess The Food And Win: The Winner Is...

It's a special Greek recipe, prepared by a Morton Grove restaurant with a Niles owner. It's on the border of the two towns. Perfect for the week in which Niles-Morton Grove Patch launches.

Did you guess correctly in our Guess the Food and Win It contest?

It's Athenian chicken from with a pedigree the owners brought from Greece.

"It originated with my mother. She came to the restaurant and showed the boys how to do it," said Kappy's owner George Alpogianis.

Through tinkering over the years, the recipe evolved into what it is today.

"It's juicy, tender and it packs a punch in terms of its flavor," Alpogianis said. "There's no salt, so it's not only good in terms of flavor, it's healthy too."

The secret to the flavor lies in what he called the holy trinity of Greek tradition--olive oil, garlic and oregano.

And the potatoes, slow-roasted in olive oil, are also heart healthy, he said.

Two people correctly guessed the dish came from Kappy's, and a random drawing determined Andy T. as the lucky winner. Andy, please email me at pam@patch.com by Friday at 5 p.m. to make arrangements to claim your free Athenian chicken. If not claimed by that time, the prize will go to the other correct guesser.

Everybody else--be sure to play Guess the Food next time.
