Kiddie Kingdom Hosts Kids Of All Sizes

Niles Chamber members grab tokens and play games along with children.

When hosted about 30 adults from the Niles Chamber of Commerce last week, owners Isabelle and Michael Nigro received lots of compliments about the quality of their food.

Some of those giving the compliments lingered over the pizza and salad. But others rushed off to play the dozens of arcade games that form the main, colorful attraction of this nirvana for children.

"We felt the community needed something like this. Niles didn't have a place where you could go with your family," said Isabelle Nigro, the mother of four young children.

While Kiddie Kingdom's main business is providing a fun experience for children and hosting birthday parties (they can accommodate up to 160), she pointed out they have an extensive menu and serve beer and wine, which mean parents can socialize as their children play.

The kitchen offers pizza, panzerotti, fried mushrooms, calamari, ribs, chicken, fried perch, salads, spaghetti, mostaccioli, lasagna, stuffed shells and Italian beef, among other things.

"Everything is made from scratch," she said, adding that the business also puts a premium on maintaining cleanliness.

The Nigros have four daughters under age five.

"For us it was important to have a family business where our children would be able to come to work with us sometimes," Isabelle noted.

Kiddie Kingdom is located at 7411 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Niles. More information is available .
