Leading Niles Businessman Passes Away

Gordon Faller, longtime owner of Faller Insurance, was active in Niles Chamber of Commerce.

 

Gordon Faller, an original board member of the Niles Chamber of Commerce and Industry, passed away Dec. 26. A memorial gathering and service was held Saturday at in Skokie, according to a notice in the Chicago Tribune. He was 83.

"His long time dedication to the Niles Chamber is still evident today and he will be greatly missed," said Katie Schneider, executive director of the Niles Chamber of Commerce, in an email.

Doug Faller, one of Gordon Faller's children, told Patch in an email,"I knew he always did a lot for other people but never fully realized how much until he passed away, and I read the article’s about him, and heard from friends, relatives, and business associates."

Maggie Nessim, who worked for the Faller insurance agency for many years and purchased it from them, said, "Gordon was a wonderful man, and he's at peace now." The agency's website posted the following:

Faller Insurance Agency was founded in Chicago in 1948 by Gordon Faller. Gordon was an actively involved board member of many organizations such as the Niles Chamber of Commerce, NORBIC - North Business & Industrial Council,  German American Singers and Martha Washington Hospital. Sadly, Gordon passed away on December 26th, 2011 and will be remembered as being a kind, generous human being who worked hard to make his personal and business community a better place for everyone, leaving behind a legacy of giving and community service.
