Morton Grove, Niles Eateries Make 'Best' List

The Chicago Reader names top eateries and markets in the suburbs, and Morton Grove and Niles make the short list.

Morton Grove and Niles made a splashy showing in the Chicago Readers's listing of suburban restaurants worth the drive.

Out of 12 restaurants listed for the north/northwest suburbs, the newspaper's writers put two Morton Grove restaurants, Chun Ju, a Korean restaurant at 5707 W. Dempster, and , at 8541 N. Ferris, on their lists.

They praised the stews, including goat, beef, tripe and monkfish, at Chun Ju, and they liked Burt's balance of pizza ingredients and caramelized crust. The fact it must be ordered one to two days in advance adds to the mystique, in addition to the fact it was featured on the cover of Saveur magazine.

The Reader's writers liked the "oceanic depth" of Fresh Farm's fish department, as well as its variety of produce and its deli department. They also praised the bakery, kimchi selection, live fish selection, and huge produce selection at Super H.
