Restaurant On Touhy Avenue Has Closed

Mayor has an idea in mind for the site; see what kind of Yelp reviews Christopher's got.

Christopher's Off The Bone BBQ and Char House restaurant, which specialized in barbecue, has closed. It was located at 7201 N. Caldwell Avenue, Niles.

Niles Mayor Andrew Przybylo said Tuesday he has had exploratory conversations with restaurateur Joseph Matuschka, who owns Hofbrauhaus in Rosemont, about possibly locating a German American cultural center on the property, which is at the well-traveled intersection of Caldwell and Touhy Avenues.

Christopher's, which opened in 2012, replaced Aegean Isles, a Greek restaurant which opened in 2011.

Reviewers on yelp.com had plenty of criticism for Christopher's, giving it an average score of 1.5 stars out of 5.

"This place has some really bad food, the BBQ brisket tastes old and dry," said David O. of Niles on Yelp.

"This was one of the worst places I've eaten at in a long time," said Lauren K. of Chicago on Yelp.

Aegean Isles fared slightly better on Yelp, with an average of three stars.
