South Asian Restaurant Planning To Open In Morton Grove

It focuses on Pakistani and Indian dishes.

The owner of a South Asian restaurant with locations in Villa Park and Schaumburg is planning to also open one in Morton Grove.

Ahmad Gazi, who owns the Shahi Nihari restaurants, said he can't disclose the location yet, but it will be in the vicinity of Golf Road and Milwaukee Avenue.

The menu focuses on Pakistani and Indian food, and the website shows dishes such as chicken kebabs cooked in a tandoor oven, vegetable pakora, lamb chops and desserts. They also serve faluda, a popular Pakistani cold beverage usually made with ice cream, rose syrup and other ingredients.

During the month of Ramadan, which will end Thursday or Friday, the Villa Park location has been serving an evening buffet at sunset, when Muslims break their daytime-hours fast.
