When gamblers tire of Las Vegas/Clark County they merely need drive into the adjoining country where prostitution is legal. Does Morton Grove's neighbor Niles have a future? Probably within eyeshot of Waukegan and Oakton you could find leaders who could create new jobs in Niles. I can imagine what the stimulus money would be.

It's amazing. Niles, who welcomed the OTB after Morton Grove turned it down, actually turned down the video gambling. In a complete turn around, Morton Grove is welcoming video gambling. In Morton Grove, I think the new acceptance is due to the position of the Action Party, who welcomes any kind of business, as long as it is legal.

If it can help small businesses in our town (like the Bringer Inn) to stay viable, I'm all for it. The machines are legal, and the establishments that house them must be approved by the State of Illinois. Plus, revenue will be generated for towns that have video gaming machines. Thank goodness this Board wasn't as short-sighted as the previous Mayor, who drove the OTB out of town and into Niles, who couldn't be happier with the windfall they are collecting.

This BROKE state needs to allow ALL places to have such machines... It will alow regulation IN and the criminal element OUT.

Niles trustees have chosen quality of life over video gambling in bars and restaurants. We will know in one or two years if Morton Grove or Niles made the right decision.
