Where To Pick Apples Near Chicago

The drought was tough on orchards, but there are still some apples on the trees--enough for you to make a pie, if you get there in time.

 

This summer's weather--with an early warm spring, followed by frost and a drought--does not make for the most bountiful crop of apples in the area, according to wbez.org.

However, if September means picking apples and baking a pie at your house, orchards do have apples on the trees.  Getting out there early--like this weekend--is a good idea.

Jonamac Orchard in Malta IL, near DeKalb, offers pick-your-own apples, pumpkins, and a petting zoo to entertain the kids.
