Whole Foods Opened To Crowds In Park Ridge Wednesday

Customers got to nibble their way through the store during its grand opening.

As Whole Foods celebrated the grand opening of its Park Ridge store Wednesday, shoppers kept the parking lot filled, with more arriving as quickly as others departed.

They were rewarded with a stylish store and free tastings that included steak, lobster, chicken tenders, a $50 champagne, wine, cheese, mango salsa and guacamole.

Shoppers browsed the Gaslight Bar, which serves wines by the glass after 5 p.m. and cheese plates all day, and the Park Ridge bar, which serves coffees and, in the evening, beers. They also ogled the fresh fish and meat counters and the bread bakery, pastry, delicatessen, taco and pizza areas.

There is also an olive bar, a soup bar, two salad bars and a hot food bar, where shoppers can choose from a wide selection and make up their own meals.

The store, at 225 W. Touhy Avenue, Park Ridge, will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. The phone number is (847) 292-7100.
