Howard Street Dam Could Soon be Removed

Removing the damaged dam in the Des Plaines River would improve water quality and conservation, the Niles Herald-Advocate reports.

 

A deteriorating dam in the Des Plaines River could soon be removed, the Niles Herald-Advocate reports.

The Niles Park District and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources are communicating about taking out broken concrete in the dam south of Howard Street. The Niles dam is one of several that could be removed as part of the Illinois Dam Removal Initiative to improve water quality and conservation, the newspaper reports.
