Up to 5 Inches of Snow Predicted; Winter Weather Advisory in Effect

More snow is coming to Morton Grove overnight.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a winter weather advisory for Cook County in effect through 9 a.m. Friday morning.

Between three and five inches of snow is expected to begin falling this evening, according to the NWS. The weather may begin as a mix of rain, snow and sleet before transitioning completely to snow.

Because the snow is predicted to fall at a rate of up to one inch per hour, the NWS cautions drivers that roads may quickly become treacherous if plows cannot keep up. The heaviest amounts of snow are expected close to midnight. The NWS also cautions drivers that winds of 25 to 30 miles per hour may limit visibility.
