Saterday Afternoon Cartoons and Comics


To introduce children to the Hsitorical Society we are having a wonderful program for all children, both young and Young-at-Heart, called

Saturday Afternoon Cartoons and Comics

Saturday, October 26, from 1 to 2:30 PM 
It will be held at the Niles historical Museum 
(8970 N. Milwaukee Ave., Niles, IL.)
Halloween Costumes optional! 

We will be showing vintage cartoons, like: 
Coco the Clown
Bugs Bunny
Woody Woodpecker
Popeye
Mighty Mouse
Betty Boop
Casper the Friendly Ghost
Felix the Cat
The Herculoids
Space Ghost
Early Disney
Looney Tunes… Just to name a few!!

We will have goody bags, free comics, prizes, treats, snacks, an old – fashioned popcorn machine for the cartoon show, and two artists will be present- creating drawings of superheroes and anime art!
AND An 8 foot tall blowup of that fearsome monster, Godzilla!! Come and take pictures with him!!

There will also be a group of "Fursuiters" (mascots in costume) on hand to take free pictures with the children to be emailed out to their parents as souvenirs. 

There is a fee: a donation of $5 per child, $8 per family at the door. This is to defray costs of supplies.

The Children will be attending from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.


At 3:00 PM we will have a presentation for adults
A Tribute to the Work of renowned illustrator, Hal Foster
who was the creator of the Prince Valiant comic strip and the beginning of the comic genre. This program will be by Sid Weiskirch.

Please note: we do have an elevator to the Auditorium on the Second floor for those who will need that service.
