St. John Brebeuf Community Picnic

St. John Brebeuf's “Olde
Fashioned Parish Picnic” is scheduled for Sunday, July 21, beginning with an 11
a.m. mass in St. Paul Woods on Oakton east of Caldwell.
Open to the entire community, the all day event, is part of the 60th
anniversary celebration of the church which was established in Niles
in 1953. Admission is free.

Games and activities for both
children and adults are planned including pony rides, a petting zoo, camel
rides, face painting, an egg toss, win a prize, bingo, Bozo buckets, a fish
pond, and bean bag toss.  All food and
beverages including hot dogs, Polish sausage, Italian beef, Bratwurst, roasted
sweet corn, ice cream, popcorn and chips will be sold at old time prices.

Affording an opportunity to
remember the past and celebrate the present while looking forward to the
future, the picnic recalls parish carnivals that were held in the 1950s, “A
Night of Wine and Roses” in 1963, and the annual festivals from 1970 to 1988
when 600 to 700 people put on stage shows for two weekends just before
Lent.    For further information, call
