Marge Berles (87), President and Curator of the Niles Historical Society and Museum, passed away from advanced Lung Cancer on Sunday, December 19, 2010, in her home. She was a fighter and fought off cancer not once but several times in her life.

Marge was a driving force at the Museum, always moving forward to the future and looking backward, preserving history at the Museum. As Curator of the Museum, she played an important part in the growth of the Niles Historical Society & Museum. As Program Director, she had managed to secure the  talents of many wonderful speakers  that the Museum would present on the 4th Sunday of every month – admission was always free! Marge served in many capacities, donating thousands of hours, unlimited talents, and had plans for the future. Her goal was to preserve all facets of the Village, from its humble beginnings to many of its fine accomplishments.

Marge believed in Niles. She was bestowed the title of “Mrs. Niles” and was awarded the Bob Wordel Citizen of the Year Award for her involvement in Niles. Marge was also an accomplished artist – a few of her paintings can be found in the Village Hall and at the Museum.
