Festive Crowd Witnesses First-Ever Niles Tree Lighting

It was held at Niles Village Hall.

A crowd gathered at Niles Village Hall Tuesday to watch the lighting of an approximately 15 foot tall, bountifully ornamented Christmas tree.

Clarence Culver School, which is just down the street, brought students in both the orchestra and choir, and both performed holiday music from a balcony overlooking the atrium, where the tree was situated.

The event was free and open to the public, and attendees were invited to sample various prepared dishes from area restaurants.

Christopher Zalinski, who received the Niles Citizen of the Year award from the Niles Chamber of Commerce earlier this year, officially flipped the switch which lighted the tree.
