12 Days of Christmas Cookies: Peanut Butter Blossoms

Get your ovens preheated and sweet tooths ready for "12 Days of Christmas Cookies."

That's right, we're featuring a different Christmas cookie recipe on Morton Grove Patch for 12 straight days, ending just before Christmas Eve. (OK, you caught me, that's not counting the weekends.)

Today's recipe are the always delicious Peanut Butter Blossoms. Here's how to make them:

Makes: About 4 dozen cookies

Prep: 20 Minutes

Chill: 15

Bake: at 375 degrees for 11 minutes

Ingredients:

1/2 cup shortening

3/4 cup creamy peanut butter

1/3 cup packed light-brown sugar

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon vanilla 

1 egg

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/3 cup granulated sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoons milk

48 Hershey's Kisses milk chocolates

Directions:

1. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Remove wrappers from chocolates.

2. Beat shortening and peanut butter in large bowl. Add granulated and brown sugars; beat until fluffy. Add egg, milk and vanilla; beat well. Stir together flour, baking soad and salt; gradually beat into mixture. 

3. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll in sugar; place on ungreased cookie sheet. 

4. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Immediately press a chocolate into center of each cookie. Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely.
