12 Days of Christmas Cookies: Snickerdoodles

Capping things off with our final recipe.

For the past two weeks we've provided you with some delicious recipes in our "12 Days of Christmas Cookies" series.

We are capping things off with one of my personal favorites and the oddest cookie name out there: snickerdoodles.

Here's how to make them:

Ingredients

1 cup butter or shortening
1-1/2 cups granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoons baking soda
cinnamon and sugar mixed to taste (about 1/4 cup sugar to 1/2 tablespoon cinnamon is a good mixture)

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 400F. Mix together butter and sugar until smooth, then add eggs, cream of tartar, and baking soda.

2. Stir in flour until well mixed.

3. Roll into balls about 1" in diameter and roll in cinnamon and sugar to coat.

4. Place on ungreased cookie sheets and bake 8-10 minutes.

5. Cookies are done when they are just barely browning.
