Senator Mulroe to host 1st annual Women’s Empowerment Workshop

CHICAGO – Senator John G. Mulroe (D-10th) will be joined by Representative McAuliffe and Alderman O'Connor in hosting the 1st Annual Women's Empowerment Workshop this Thursday, October 24 from 7pm-9pm at Resurrection High School.  

The event is open to all women, age 14 and up. Various health and wellness organizations, hospital representatives and doctors will be featured at the event. Licensed professionals will provide a wide array of women’s health information and teach attendees the proper detection and prevention skills for breast cancer.  Additionally, the new Hologic tomosynthesis 3D Mammography coach will be available for tours while representatives provide details on the newest form of early breast cancer detection. 

An onsite OB/GYN will be discussing cervical, uterine and ovarian cancer and will be able to answer personal wellness questions regarding various women’s health issues.

“This event is about empowering women to take care of themselves, inside and out,” Senator Mulroe said.  “it promotes confidence, safety and overall health and well-being.”

Information will also be provided on the number one killer among women—heart disease.

Additionally, women can sign up for various support networks on-site and can participate in hand to hand self defense training taught by public safety officials.
