Chamber Names Lin-Mar Business of the Year, Honors Karps as VIPs
At the Morton Grove Chamber's Installation and Awards Dinner this past week, many members of the local business community were given special honors.
The held their 35th annual Installation and Awards dinner this past Thursday at Chateau Ritz Banquets in Niles. The evening's guests of honor were Jim and Yvette Karp, who had earlier been named the 2011 VIPs of the year based on nominations from the community.
The Karps are best known for their involvements in the Taste of Morton Grove, Morton Grove Baseball and Softball Association and the Morton Grove Days Commission.
Trustee Dan DiMaria, one of the evening's presenters, stated "Morton Grove is a better place because of Jim & Yvette"

Michael Simkins of Simkins Funeral Home, the evenings Master of Ceremonies, said "there aren't very many organizations in Morton Grove that the Karps don't have some sort of involvement in."
The most exciting part of the evening came with the announcement of the 2011 business of the year, selected by chamber members from the year's 12 "Members of the Month."

While it was a very close race, Lin-Mar Motors walked away with the prize. Chamber President Richard Block said of Ron Lundin and Lin-Mar Motors "they are truly invested in our community and give whenever and wherever possible." Lin-Mar was also honored earlier in the evening for 40 years of Chamber membership.
Jim and Yvette Karp started off their speech by reminding the crowd of the upcoming Taste of Morton Grove on March 8th. Tickets are on sale at l, C21 Marino, , and through committee members.
