For Now, a River Bank Runs Through a Niles Forest Preserve Trail

The path is caving in just north of Touhy on the North Branch of the Chicago River Trail, so it's being rerouted.

I've been running on the North Branch of the Chicago River Trail for over 10 years--I know every inch of it. Just north of Touhy there's a spot where the trail is caving in along the river bank. The Cook County Forest Preserve District noticed and now a contractor is removing trees so the path can be rerouted.

But once the new asphalt path is in place, new trees will be planted where the old path was, the contractor assured me.
