Beer, Brats, $25,000 At Niles Oktoberfest

Our Lady of Ransom, which serves people from Park Ridge, Niles, Des Plaines and more, is raffling off $25,000. That should put a lot of oom-pah into the celebration!

For months, parishioners at Our Lady of Ransom, near the Niles-Park Ridge border, have been selling raffle tickets.

The excitement will reach a peak Friday, when the church's Oktoberfest begins at 6:30 p.m. There will be beer, brats, sides, an oompah band and lots of good company, said Rev. Christopher Gustafson, the pastor.

From Last Year: Who Won the $50,000?

At 9 p.m., the names of winners of $500 and $1,000 will be drawn, and then, drum roll please, the winner of the wunderbar $25,000.

A few tickets may still be available by calling Our Lady of Ransom's office.

Those who don't win can console themselves with strudel, which Gustafson says will be on hand.

Because temperatures are expected to be cool, there will be some seating indoors, he added.
