Hungry? Taste of Morton Grove Coming Thursday

Restaurateurs from an array of local places will dish out fabulous food.

If you enjoy good food and helping worthy causes, you can do both at the Taste of Morton Grove, being held Thursday starting at 5:30 p.m. at, 6689 N. Milwaukee Ave., Niles. Tickets are $40, or $30 in advance.

Taste-goers can enjoy food from many restaurants, including China Chef, Catered By Design, Culver's, Corner Bakery, Dairy Queen, El Sol, Giordano's, Graziano's, Kappy's, Maggiano's, Maier's Bakery, Morton Grove Fire Department, Orchard Village, Sri Siam, Starbucks, Unimart, Wa Pa Ghetti and White Eagle.

The Morton Grove Foundation, which sponsors the event, donates proceeds from the fundraiser to many non-profit agencies that serve the Morton Grove area.

"The foundation takes suggestions (for recipients) from the community and looks around for charities that benefit Morton Grove and the surrounding communities," said Jacky Liston, executive director of the Morton Grove Chamber of Commerce.

Beneficiaries such as the Morton Grove Historical Society, Morton Grove Farmers Market and Niles Township Food Pantry are obvious local institutions that could benefit from local financial assistance, but other suggestions, such as Standing Tall Charitable Foundation and the Foundation for Nager and Miller Syndromes were suggested by people in the community, Liston said.

The proceeds will go to 25 non-profit organizations in all.

The Foundation is hoping to sell between 500 and 700 tickets, Liston said, and make grants in the amount of $40,000.

The event also includes a silent auction. Donations for the silent auction can be brought to Mary Jo LeBeau at Morton Grove Fire Station 4 (Lincoln and Callie), or Jacky Liston in the Morton Grove Chamber office.

For questions about donating a silent auction item or the fundraiser itself, call Terry LeBeau at 312-907-4035 or contact Liston at (847) 965 0330 or director@mgcci.org.
