Windy City Times: Impact on Chicagoland and Its LGBT Community
When/Where: Ethical Humanist Society, 7574 Lincoln Ave., Skokie
Why Go: Tracy Baim, co-founder and publisher of Windy City Times, speaks February 19th on ”Windy City Times: Impact on Chicago and Its LGBT Community.” Baim will discuss how LGBT media has been a powerful force in culture, sports, and business, and how it has been an active political participant in the wider community, especially in response to the issues of AIDS and civil rights.

International Fest
When/Where: Friday Feb. 17, 6 to 9:30 p.m., St. John Brebeuf, 8305 N. Harlem Ave., Niles.
Why Go: Sample the cuisines of France, Italy, India, the Philippines, Poland, Germany and Ireland. Then relax, have a seat and watch an impressive dance show featuring troupes skilled in the ethnic and folk dances of many countries.
Pricing: Free admission; food tickets 50 cents each.

Theater: “Oleanna”
When/Where: Saturday, Feb. 18 at 8 p.m. and Sunday Feb. 19 at 2 p.m., Oakton Community College, Footlik Theater at Des Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Road, Des Plaines.
Why Go: It’s a staged reading, and the story deals with a professor accused of sexual harassment. It wrestles with political correctness as the professor and student struggle for power. Could any topic be more ripped from the headlines?

Art Wall Unveiling
When/Where: Saturday Feb. 18 at noon, Entrance 8, Golf Mill Shopping Center, Golf Road and Milwaukee Avenue, Niles.
Why Go: Voila! The Teen Center unveils the Tile Art Project, designed by area students.
