Adult Day Care Is A Good Option For Dementia Sufferers
Adult Day Care is a good option to consider for a loved one with Alzheimer's Disease or Dementia. Here are some local options.
Almost all of us have had a family member fall victim to Alzheimer’s Disease, or a related dementia. It takes a devastating toll on the victim, and their family. Family caregivers have a number of options available to help cope with the disease, including hiring a professional caregiver from a senior care agency, or placement in an assisted living/memory support facility. Another option to consider is Adult Day Care.
An Adult Day Care Center is a place designed to engage & stimulate Alzheimer’s patients in a controlled non-nursing environment. Typically, most ADCs operate on a Monday through Friday schedule, where the participants are dropped off in the morning and picked up in the late afternoon. The kinds of activities that take place during the day include arts & crafts, music, pet therapy, cooking, games, and much more. Studies have shown that regular participation in Adult Day Care can have a positive impact on a person’s overall cognitive condition.
At Home Instead Senior Care, we have numerous clients who participate in Adult Day Care, and benefit tremendously. Locally there are a number of Adult Day Care Centers which offer daily Alzheimer’s care & respite for caregivers. Some local centers include:
