Respite Care:The Little-Known Benefit For Caregivers Through Dept. On Aging
Need a break from caregiving? You're entitled to a temporary caregiver through an Illinois Department On Aging program.
Do you or someone you know need a break in caring for a relative? Most caregivers are not aware that the Illinois Department on Aging provides funding for a program called Respite Care. The purpose of the program is to provide a short term, temporary amount of care to a senior, so that the primary family caregiver can take a break.
An example might be a wife who provides care to her husband who suffers from Alzheimer's Disease, or a son or daughter who is the primary caregiver for their disabled senior parent. This program would provide a bonded & insured caregiver through a local senior care agency to come in for a few hours, or days, so the family member can take a break.
Home Instead Senior Care has serviced numerous people over the years in Skokie, Evanston, Niles, Park Ridge, Des Plaines, Morton Grove, Wilmette, Winnetka, and elsewhere in the North Suburban Chicago Area under this program.
