MGPL is Going Green... Literally!

MGPL is excited to announce the start of the Global Garden, a new community edible garden. Come celebrate the start of the garden on Planting Day, Tuesday, June 21st at 4:00pm.

MGPL is excited to announce the start of the Global Garden, a new community edible garden. In keeping with the Summer Library Challenge, “One World , Many Stories,” the garden will reflect some of the cultures represented in Morton Grove. It will consist of “global” plants like kale, jalapeno, and bok choy, as well as universal staples such as tomatoes, broccoli, and cucumbers.

The garden will serve as an educational tool to teach the public about gardening and help promote healthy choices. It will also bring awareness to issues such as the environment, sustainability, obesity, and preventable diseases. We hope that our garden will serve as a model for other organizations to follow suit and develop similar programs promoting green literacy and healthy eating.

Come celebrate the start of the garden on Planting Day, Tuesday, June 21st at 4:00pm. If you are interested in volunteering in the garden, please contact Rosetta Metz, Head of Outreach, PR, and Programming at 847-929-5129 or at rmetz@webrary.org. Many thanks to Avon, MB Financial and Creative Promotional Products for sponsoring the program.
