New Director Selected For Morton Grove Public Library

The Morton Grove Library's Board of Trustees after an extensive search and thorough review process has selected a new full-time Director.

The Morton Grove Library’s Board of Trustees after an extensive search and thorough review process has selected a new full-time Director.  Ms. Pamela Leffler will officially begin her new position on July 2, 2012. 

The Board of Library Trustees is very pleased to announce that Pamela Leffler has accepted the position of Director of the Morton Grove Public Library.  Ms. Leffler has over 20 years of public library experience and comes to the Morton Grove Public Library from the Carol Stream Public Library, where she most recently served as Assistant Director.  Ms. Leffler is the sixth full-time Library Director since the position was first created in 1955. 

“The library board and staff have done an excellent job of running the library and continuing to provide service to the community…” stated Ms. Leffler who went on to say that “I am looking forward to the opportunity and challenge of building on these efforts to provide the residents of Morton Grove with a truly great library.”

Library Board of Trustees President Mark Albers said, “Pamela Leffler will be a wonderful addition to both the Library and our community as the MGPL moves forward with exciting things like an updated website, a new look for our Books & Beyond newsletter, the first-ever Read Fest and third upcoming TechFest this fall.”  Mr. Albers also expressed the entire Board of Trustee’s appreciation for the exemplary efforts of both Kevin Justie and Natalya Fishman as Co-Directors; along with the entire staff and volunteers of the MGPL who did so much for the patrons of the library over the last year. 

About the Morton Grove Public Library – Established in 1938, The Morton Grove Public Library serves the informational, professional, educational and recreational needs of Morton Grove's diverse, multicultural community of 23,000 residents. The current landmark facility opened in 1952 on the site of Monument Park, where the Women's War Working Circle dedicated the historic “Doughboy Statue” in 1921 to honor World War I Veterans (the bronze statue still stands on the Library’s front lawn today).  The facility has 31,000 square feet housing more than 155,000 items (books, magazines, newspapers, movies, audio books, compact discs, etc.). The MGPL provides a variety of additional services including internet access and use of popular software programs, photocopying machines and more along with a variety of educational and informative programs for all ages.
