Reading is So Delicious! (and so are the tasty prizes)

The MGPL Summer Library Challenge has begun! Have you signed up yet? It is open to all ages and you do not need to be a MG resident to participate. Sign up at the Reference desk or online then keep track of the books, audiobooks, eBooks, CDs, DVDs or video games you check out and programs you attend. With all that fun you are sure to work up an appetite so in keeping with this year's theme, "Reading is So Delicious", we have mouth-watering prizes and yummy events in the Library. Adults and teens could win grand prizes from Buffalo Wild Wings, The Curragh Irish Pub, Chipotle, Outback Steak House, Pequod's Pizza, and many more*. Kids can sink their teeth into prizes from Culver's, Bakers Square, and more*.

Also look for foodie events happening in the Library this summer. Here is just a taste of what is going on:

Sunday, June 10th at 2 pm: Chicago's Classic Restaurants - Neil Samors and Eric Bronsky will discuss their newest book about the history of area restaurants. Join us for an entertaining illustrated book talk about Chicago's Classic Restaurants. After the talk, the authors will sign purchased copies of their book.

Tuesday, June 12th at 10 am: Create a Family Cookbook Website - Have you been meaning to gather your recipes together?  Making a cookbook website is a fun and creative way to share recipes and stories with your family and friends.  Bring a few recipes, and we'll create a free Wordpress account to build a website. Registration required.

Saturday, June 16th at 1 pm: Yummy Yummy Food Science - Grades K-2 Learn about the amazing world of food!  Become a chemist as you try to preserve fruits and veggies. Learn the science behind yeast pretzels. Make gummy candies and science soda. You can eat every experiment! There will be no nuts or dairy in the experiments. Registration required.
