The Niles Public Library Smart Solution$ initiative continues to help the community with financial questions during the month of April. Two programs will be presented at the Niles Public Library. Our initiative partner, Maine Township, will host the third program at their location 1700 Ballard Road in Park Ridge.

Savvy Social Security Planning on Wed., Apr. 24 at 3pm: This informative seminar will cover who is eligible for Retirement and Survivor benefits along with entitlement factors for this and other Social Security Programs. The presentation also includes information on statements, retirement options, working while receiving benefits, using the Retirement Estimator, and online services. Identity & Theft on Thurs., Apr. 25 at 10:30am: Learn how to reduce your risk by managing your personal information wisely. This program will demonstrate customer vulnerabilities and how to reduce the victimization process. Presenter: Deidra Thomas, Consumer and Family Economics, University of Illinois Extension. Preventing Predatory Loans on Mon., Apr. 29 at 10am: Our partnership with Maine Township continues as we educate our community about red flags when purchasing or refinancing a home. The Preventing Predatory Loans program includes information on the proper authorities to notify if you are a victim and how to protect your home. Presenter: Jasmine Brewer, Director of Housing Counseling at Open Communities. Location: Maine Township Building 1700 Ballard Rd., Park Ridge.
