Niles Chamber Member, 82, Passes Away

Peter Mayer, a longtime Niles Chamber of Commerce and Industry member and advocate, passed away Friday, July 5. 

Mayer, who lived in Des Plaines and was an advertising representative for the Journal & Topics newspapers, "was always promoting the Chamber," said Katie Schneider, its executive director.

"He served on our Board of Directors for many years and was a friendly face in the business community. He will be greatly missed," she wrote in a email.

Peter Mayer, 82.  Beloved husband of Marlene, nee Null.  Loving father of David (Cheryl) Mayer, Tracie (Chad) Ericksen and the late Bethie, dear grandfather of Taylor and Tiffanie Ericksen, Hisa Clark and Michael Halvorsen.  Chapel service Wednesday, 12:15 PM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W.
