Morton Grove's Very Own Political Machine

In a Pioneer Press story of September 12, 2013, the Headline reads: "Morton Grove mayor has ‘frontrunners’ for former board member’s seat". The story then goes on to report that with the announced resignation of village trustee Tony Kalogarakos, Mayor DiMaria has a number of "frontrunners" in mind to fill the seat. DiMaria then avoided a question regarding naming a Caucus Party member to the seat with a transparent platitude regarding the "new" Action Party, (read as resurrected "old" Caucus Party).

This deal smells like the southbound end of a northbound skunk.
Shouldn't the folks who elected Mr. Kalogarakos have some say in his replacement? Shouldn't the other duly elected representatives of the people have some input?

Maybe so, but I'm willing to bet that the new mayor pays off a backroom campaign promise with this appointment.

There is a reason that politics is known as the world's second oldest profession, (and it has much in common with the first).
