Police assessed that the car had struck a ComEd pole and bounced off, coming to rest after several feet. Though no one was inside the car, the young woman approached police officers and said the car was hers and that she had crashed it, according to the report. Police said she was crying, hysterical and had the odor of alcohol coming from her breath.

The woman told police she had been drinking and that she deserved this because she wanted to die, according to police. Niles Fire Department paramedics took her to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.
