29-Year-Old Woman Found Dead After Drug-Buying Trip

Three companions said they did not see her using any drugs.

Police found a 29-year-old woman dead, lying in a hallway between bedrooms in an apartment in the 8400 block of Milwaukee Avenue, Niles, Thursday at about 2:20 a.m. They had responded to a 911 call placed by the woman's three companions, a 34-year-old woman from Roscoe IL, a 27-year-old man (the renter of the apartment) and a 35-year-old man.

The 27-year-old man said he and the woman who died went to Chicago's West Side, where she purchased heroin, earlier in the evening. All three companions said they saw the victim drinking beer and spiced rum that night, but not using any drugs.

The victim went into the bathroom at one point and didn't come out for a long time, prompting the 34-year-old woman to check on her. Finding her laying unconscious on the floor, she tried to douse her with water in the shower to wake her up. When that didn't work, the 35-year-old man, who had been sleeping on the couch, called 911.
