$3,000 Of Tools Stolen During Vehicle Break-In

An arrest is merely an accusation, not evidence of a conviction.


A 54-year-old Niles man reported that a rear window of his 2002 Freightliner was found shattered while parked in the 8400 block of Maynard Street. The incident occurred between 11 p.m. Aug. 30 and 8:30 a.m. Aug. 31. 

The victim told police $3,000 worth of tools had been taken, including:  
2 Stanley brand finish guns, 1 Stanley brand framing gun, 1 Stanley brand air compressor, 1 Hitachi brand chop saw, 1 Milwaukee brand hand saw, 1 Milwaukee brand sawzall, 1 Hitachi brand hammer drill, 1 Hitachi brand angle grinder, 1 Bostich brand router with air gun, 1 Skil brand angle drill, 1 Ryobi brand battery drill and 1 Ryobi brand battery screwdriver. No serial numbers were available. 

Man charged with DUI

Chimoun Chlimon, 34, of North Whipple Street, Chicago, was charged with DUI on Sept. 1, after a police officer on patrol observed him driving 51 mph in the 8400 block Milwaukee Avenue, where the speed limit is 35 mph, just before 2:30 a.m., according to the report. As the officer followed Chlimon, he swerved between lanes twice. During a traffic stop, the officer observed the odor of alcohol on Chlimon's breath. He showed impairment on field sobriety tests, according to police. He was also cited for speeding and improper lane usage. His court date is Sept. 27 in the Skokie branch of the Cook County courts.
