$5,000 Ring Stolen

Man last saw it before he had a cleaning firm come to his home.

An 82-year-old Niles man who lives in a condo in the 8800 block of Golf Road reported to police Thursday that a diamond ring valued at $5,000 had been taken from a desk drawer in his home. He last observed it before he had a duct cleaning firm come into his home to do work. He requested police follow-up.

Employee suspected of theft

Tina Stanley of Des Plaines was charged with theft after a loss prevention agent for a retail store in the 9500 block of Golf Road observed her Sept. 14 on suspicion of theft. The agent observed her remove her cash drawer, walk to the service desk and put a $10 bill in her pocket. She gave statements to the agent admitting to thefts on Sept. 9, 10 and 14, in the total amount of $160. Her court date is Nov. 1. in the Skokie branch of the Cook County court system.
