After Online Dispute, Driver Tries To Hit Man On Road

Two men were supposed to meet and discuss remarks but things got out of hand.

Niles police went to a parking lot in the 7200 block of Dempster Street after they received a call about 1:45 a.m. June 10 about criminal damage to an auto.

According to the police report, the incident was an escalation of a dispute between two men, who were supposed to meet that day to discuss comments made over the Internet.

The victim told police that the offender had made remarks about the victim's father's medical condition on a website called thedirty.com. He also accused the offender of harassing a female friend, who was not present, through text messages and phone calls.

The victim said he saw the offender approaching on Harlem Avenue and walked to the street, where the offender maneuvered his vehicle and made several attempts to hit the victim. 

When the victim fled back to his vehicle in the parking lot, the offender threw a rock that allegedly scratched the paint of the driver's side mirror.

Police are investigating the matter. 

Out-of-state credit card owner victimized

Ladonna Williams, 46, of South Carpenter Street in Chicago, was arrested on several charges after an incident at a store in the 9500 block of Greenwood on June 6.

Niles authorities discovered that Arlington Heights police investigators determined that Williams had wrongly used the credit card of a woman from Murrells Inlet, SC. The woman, who has never been to Niles, had not authorized Williams to use her credit card, according to the report. 

Niles police found Williams had an altered Ohio driver's license with some of the credit card owner's identifying information on it. Williams had also used the the South Carolina resident's Social Security number to do an account verification at the store. 

Williams was taken into custody and charged with identity theft and possession of an altered driver's license to commit theft.
