Armed Robber Strikes at Niles Hair Salon

The suspect robbed hair salons in Skokie last week, police said. He struck again on Golf Road in Niles Monday morning.

 

The armed robber who has robbed hair salons in Skokie and Morton Grove struck again at a Niles hair salon in the 8300 block of Golf Road just before 11:40 a.m. Monday, according to Niles police.

A man matching the description entered a Morton Grove hair salon Friday and Morton Grove police responded, but that man was not the suspect police were seeking, Morton Grove police said Friday afternoon

Niles police released a statement Monday afternoon saying they responded to a report of an armed robbery. The offender entered the store, an employee walked to the front of the store to wait on what the employee thought was a customer, and the suspect displayed a handgun and demanded money from the cash register, according to police.

The employee placed an undetermined amount of money into a back pack the offender brought with him and he left the store.

The employee was not hurt, and neither were two other employees who remained in the rear of the store. No surveillance video was available.

According to police, the offender is described as a male in his mid 30’s, approximately 5’10’, 200 lbs, wearing dark sunglasses, black jacket with the hood covering his head, and armed with a handgun.

Anyone who may have information regarding this incident is urged to call the Niles Police Department Investigations Unit at 847-588-6500. If anyone sees a suspect matching the description, police advise not approaching him and calling 911 immediately.
