The missing youth got separated from his mother at Golf Mill Shopping Center in Niles. After neither security nor police found him, police issued a statewide alert.

On Saturday just after 6:30 p.m., a Prospect Heights woman reported that her autistic 13-year-old son walked away from her while they were at Golf Mill Shopping Center, and they became separated and she could not find him, according to police. Golf Mill security instituted a Code Adam alert, which mobilizes the mall's security and staff for finding missing children or disabled adults.
